KUMBAYA

I have read many times on MyDD that people are going to "teach the other side a lesson" and vote for McCain, or stay home if their candidate doesn't get the nomination. Even I flirted with this idea during a few heated moments this year.

I joined MyDD recently, because I thought there would be more balance here. Reading DKOS is like talking to a mirror . . . it just isn't that much fun . . . and watching FAUX News for insight can drive one to insanity.

I know that some GOP trolls have snuck in here, and there are some left-leaning independents in here . . . but for those of us that believe that the Democratic Party is the way to go - PLEASE think about your children and grandchildren.

It is possible that a John McCain Presidency will appoint two Supreme Court Justices. This legacy could last TWENTY years, not just FOUR years. Another thing to consider is that our in-fighting could hurt down-ticket chances. Does ANYONE on here (other than trolls) want Mitch McConnell running the Senate????

I want to thank HRC for answering "YES, YES, YES" to a Kumbaya in the GE! It will take some healing on both sides, but true DEMS on MyDD will Kumbaya behind the nominee.

Why on earth would she do any different? (2.00 / 3)

She is a democrat through and through- she has stood up for this party for years- taken the heat for all of us.  Why on earth would she abandon us now?

I agree too . . . I just wish both her and Obama could knock some sense into their extreme partisans.

Yep, the hate diaries on here are thinning out. The rec list is starting to look like the new DEM party.

The "new DEM party" looks like the (2.00 / 2)

old Rep party from the look of the rec list here lately and Bob Johnson looks like the Newt Gingrinch  of your supposed "new Dem party."

HRC is the centrist (I am a centrist too). Obama is to her left, but inspires the center.

NO 100 year WAR, NO McConnell run Senate, & NO GOP-led Supreme Court!!!

That's interesting. (2.00 / 1)

I didn't know the left sided with people like Donnie McClurkin and talked about social security being in crisis. Oh, wait-the left doesn't that's just Barack and the RWers.

And we shouldn't abandon her.  She has the support of the majority of Dems.  We are seeking to put up a Dem nominee for the GE.  Well, 1 + 1 = Hillary for Pres.

Re: KUMBAYA (2.00 / 2)

Given the deeply divisive way Obama has chosen to run his campaign, and the damage it has done to the Democratic party and to his own prospects, I can't say that I look forward to the chance to vote for him. But if he is the Democratic nominee I will work for him and vote for him.

The handful of Hillary supporting posters who claim they can't vote for Obama are not much different from those Obama supporters in the past who insisted they couldn't vote for Hillary, the big difference is that where Obama encouraged that disloyalty Hillary loudly and clearly calls for her voters to support Obama if he is the nominee.

But MyDD's purpose has always been more than advocacy. What makes it worth reading is analysis. Obama has a serious problem with working class voters in key states, and at times he, and his supporters taking their clue from him, seem hell bent on driving those voters away. His campaign's insistence that they can make up the gap with conservative independents should terrify progressives, and is a pretty weak claim given that McCain is the Republican nominee. Compound that with his weakness among women and Hispanics and figuring out a path to the presidency gets very hard very quickly. Calling kumbya on a Democratic blog doesn't change any of that, nor will pretending that these are not real problems that we need to discuss.

Re: KUMBAYA (none / 0)

Exactly how has Obama encouraged disloyalty? This should be good.

Re: KUMBAYA (none / 0)

Sorry...this comment is just too much.

I think there is a massive disconnect between talk and action if you honestly believe that Hillary has "loudly and clearly" done anything positive towards Barack Obama.

Re: KUMBAYA (none / 0)

Hillary Clinton loudly and clearly calling for her supporters to vote for Obama if he is the nominee is the subject of this diary. Throughout the campaign she has called for Democrats to support the Democrat, regardless of who wins the nomination.

Obama has not, and has instead stated that while he thinks he can win her supporters he doesn't know that his would vote for Hillary in the general election. Michelle Obama went even further when she signalled that she may not be able to support Hillary Clinton if she were to win.

Re: KUMBAYA (none / 0)

Hillary hides behind her surrogates...she lashes out at Obama endorsers (like Richardson). She publically acknowledges that 'he cant win'...until last night when she needed to sing a new tune. She has framed this whole primary based on an electability argument that plays into Repubs. hands. If you think Hillary is sincere in her rhetoric...think again. Her actions speak much more loudly than her words. After all, her army here doesnt believe her - why should you? This is a load of propaganda and crap - you know it, I know it.

Re: KUMBAYA (none / 0)

she said he would win, because its what a good democrat would do, just like when Obama wins she will support him.

to bad the attack diaries flared up here tonight.
and right before the screw 'em story will hit the air.

Obama said, as Bill beamed. "Thank you, President Clinton."

Re: KUMBAYA (none / 0)

I'm a 'real democrat', but I will vote Nader if Obama takes the nomination.

I've just spent the last eight years listening to a bald faced liar.

I won't go through that again.

Until recently I was selling drugs, and now I'm selling Obama T-shirts.
